Winter Wonderland

February 18th, 2008

We live in the snow belt in Ontario, and let me say that this has been the type of winter we used to get when I was a kid. The snow banks in the driveway are as tall as a small horse, you can no longer pile the snow any higher. You need to pull out halfway into oncoming traffic to see if anyone is coming the snow banks are so high. I long for spring and I am thankful the days are getting longer. My bike sits quietly and patiently for me in the living room, I am not so patient and just want to hear the sound of that delightful 1200 rumble once again. Soon we will be out on road, feeling that comfort we all get from the first ride of spring.

Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.

Fall Already!

October 19th, 2007

Wow, I think this past summer was one of the best riding seasons in a long while. Lot’s of sun, not much rain and great temperatures. Although I did not get out there as much as I wanted to, far too much on the go as usual. I have just launched my new Journal - The Power of Women, this one is for all the ladies out there, check it out.

I met some great women on the road this year, there are more and more women riding which is so great to see. Hopefully there will be some time left for riding yet this year.  My next newsletter will be released soon, don’t forget to sign up for it. I Hope your riding season was a good one.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

Check out these great sites.

If you haven’t already, check out Helmet Hair Magazine, a great on-line mag for women riders. These ladies have done a terrific job at capturing what’s new and current for women in motorcycling. While you are there you will see a review on Motofemina, a great video series put together by Rick de Saussure which follows several women as they are introduced to the world of motorcycles, very well done.

Michele Smith and Panoptx reviewed.

Check this out.

Since all of my blogs were annihilated in the crash of the server, I did not want you to miss this “what’s new.” I met with Liz Jansen from Trillium Tours, a lovely lady who has a lot on the go (don’t we all). Please check out her website. She has a couple of fabulous women’s rides this summer that look delightful! Come and see our beautiful Province of Ontario and experience the ride of a lifetime. One of the other interesting things Liz is part of is a survey of Canadian Women Motorcycle Riders (and those who would like to be). Please take the time to fill this out. Thanks!

Winter Bike Storage

October 10th, 2006

Thanks to Dave Germaine of Barrie Harley Davidson for the colorful stories and great tips. Make sure you sign up for my newsletter to get the full story from Dave - it is a good one!

  • fill your gas tank to the top (air space above gas will rust tank)
  • don’t forget the fuel stabilizer (ensures your gas stays fresh)
  • run the bike at a fast idle (gets all the oil in the oil tank)
  • change oil and filter
  • run the bike a few minutes to circulate new oil - make sure it is full
  • shut off your fuel valve and run dry
  • place cotton rags in mufflers - no mice please!
  • charge battery every month - or use a battery tender
  • fill tires to manufacturers recommended pressure
  • spray bike with an anti corrosion spray such as S100 - do not spray the tires
  • check on your bike - all kinds of rodents love to nest in fairings and chew on electrical wiring
